Megan Caveny, fresh off her appearance in the Legends Tournament, added another goal to the Blackouts' tally. Interestingly, the game mirrored the previous rainout, as the lights at Ounjian Field suddenly cut off with 20 minutes remaining in the second half, prompting both teams to amicably leave the field.

On July 17th, the Boston Brigade will face Blue Cheese at 6:30 PM, while Silver Linings takes on the Green Monstas at 7:30 PM. CHANGES TO NEPL SCHEDULE - PUSTIZZI STRUGGLES TO FIND SUCCESS

The North East Premier League (NEPL) witnessed two thrilling games on Monday, June 26th, showcasing the exceptional skills and competitive spirit of the participating teams. Despite different outcomes, both matches provided spectators with unforgettable moments and exciting displays of talent.

The first game of the evening kicked off at 6:30 PM, featuring a clash between the Boston Brigade and the Green Monstas. The Green Monstas emerged victorious with a convincing 4-1 win. Leading the charge for the Green Monstas was Katie Moynihan, who contributed a goal to their tally. Additionally, Jackie Briggs scored a remarkable stroke goal against the esteemed goalkeeper, Lacey Pustizzi, who represents the Masters team USA. This goal holds a special significance for Briggs and Pustizzi, as they share a history of attending Hingham High School together. Eleanor Webber continued the onslaught for the Green Monstas by adding two more goals to secure their triumph. Notably, Roxy Paana, a recent addition to the Boston Brigade, displayed her offensive prowess with an impressive long-range goal assisted by Savannah Schisled. Despite the final score, the Boston Brigade showcased their best performance of the season, leaving a lasting impression on their fans.

Following the first game, the action continued at 7:30 PM with an exhilarating match between the Silver Linings and the Blackouts, which ended in a thrilling 3-3 tie. The Silver Linings demonstrated their competitive edge with goals from substitute player Bella Booth, as well as Rebecca Silver and Sydney Melfi. Meanwhile, the Blackouts fought tooth and nail, finding the back of the net through Sarah Johnson, Megan Barrett, and Jessica Fleet. Notably, Lacey Pustizzi, assumed the role of goalkeeper for the Blackouts, filling in for their regular goalkeeper, Sam Carlino known for her international elite goalkeeper status and her association with the USA indoor national team. Pustizzi's efforts between the pipes were unable to secure her first victory of the season, surprising many given her exceptional track record in the league and standout performances at the Masters World Cup in Nottingham, England, representing Team USA.

Unfortunately, due to unfavorable weather conditions, tonight’s scheduled doubleheader for Wednesday, June 28th had to be canceled. The Flamingos versus Blue Cheese match in the women's division, scheduled for 6:30 PM, and the MIB versus MMFHC match in the men's division, scheduled for 7:30 PM, will be rescheduled to ensure fair play and the teams' convenience. The league management has released the following makeup game schedule to the team captains:

Wednesday, July 12th, 8:30 PM: Blackouts vs. Boston Brigade
Wednesday, July 26th, 8:30 PM: Flamingos vs. Blue Cheese

Wednesday, June 14th:

The scheduled game between the Boston Brigade and the Blackouts at 6:30pm was off to an intense start. The Blackouts had a commanding lead of 3 - 0 with just 20 seconds remaining in the first half when the game was abruptly called off due to lightning. According to league rules, if the first half is completed, the game stands as is. However, since there were only 20 seconds remaining, it was decided to reschedule the game for July 12th. Unfortunately, the subsequent game between the MIB and Minuteman FHC in the men's division, scheduled for 7:30pm, was also canceled that night.

Monday, June 19th:

The action resumed at Tufts University's Ounjian Field with a matchup between the Boston Brigade and the Flamingos at 6:30pm. The Flamingos displayed an outstanding performance, defeating the Boston Brigade with a convincing 5 - 0 victory. Alana Boyd, Katherine Carlson, and Amaneet Lochab scored for the Flamingos, with Lochab netting two goals. After the game, Flamingos' team captain Maddison Finn remarked, "Our team was on one."

In the second game at 7:30pm, Silver Lining faced off against the Green Monstas, and the thrilling contest ended in a 2 - 2 tie. Kayla Sliz and substitute player Emily Schute contributed to Silver Lining's score, while Rebecca Handy and Katie Moynihan found the back of the net for the Green Monstas.

Wednesday, June 21st:

The Blackouts returned to the field to face Blue Cheese at 6:30pm. The Blackouts continued their dominance with an impressive 9 - 1 victory. Madison McGuire secured a hat-trick, Megan Caveny scored three goals and provided two assists, Kellie Stigas added a goal, and Sarah Johnson completed a remarkable hat-trick of her own. Blue Cheese managed to find the net once through Taylor Simpson's goal.

In the men's division game at 7:30pm, Minuteman FHC clashed with MIB, resulting in a 1-1 tie. Allan Law scored for Minuteman FHC, while Arjun Marappa contributed a goal for MIB. Notably, Megan Caveny played a pivotal role in ensuring the games went ahead smoothly that night. Arriving early, she watered the field just in time, with assistance from Franny Augustine, who provided a spare key to the goals.

Recap of North East Premier League Field Hockey Games: June 12th 2023

The North East Premier League field hockey matches took place at Ounjian Field at Tufts on a thrilling evening of competitive action.

The first game kicked off at 6:30 pm between Silver Lining and the Flamingos. Silver Lining, the defending champions from the previous season, came out strong and secured a 2-0 victory over the Flamingos. Sydney Melfi opened the scoring for Silver Lining, with an assist from Lindsey Nerbonne. Later, Tess Anderson found the back of the net, again assisted by Lindsey Nerbonne. In goal for Silver Lining, Emily Keeffe made one save to keep a clean sheet, while Nora Newman, the Flamingos' goalkeeper, made three saves throughout the game.

The second match of the night began at 7:30 pm and featured an intense battle between the Green Monstas and Blue Cheese. Both teams put up a strong fight, resulting in a 2-2 draw at the end of the game. The Green Monstas' substitute player, Maggie Ferrand, made an impressive contribution by scoring a goal, assisted by Cassie Hughes. Maggie's performance was especially remarkable as she had already played in the 6:30 am game with the Flamingos and had undertaken a biking expedition from the greater Boston area to Ptown over the weekend. Another goal for the Green Monstas came from Katie Moynihan, also assisted by Hughes. In goal for the Green Monstas, Meg Murphy made three saves, showcasing her skill and agility between the posts.

The Blue Cheese fought back with two goals of their own. The first goal was scored by Caitlin Connelly, with an assist from Lindsey Nolte. The second goal came unassisted from Colleen Ellis. In goal for the Blue Cheese, Katie Webber matched Meg Murphy's performance with three impressive saves of her own.

Notably, Tina Mattera, a renowned field hockey legend and USA standout, who also serves as the head coach for Tufts University's field hockey team, played for Blue Cheese and contributed significantly to the team's performance both on the field and by turning the water on, a noteworthy first for NEPL's time at Ounjian Field.

The North East Premier League showcased an evening filled with exhilarating field hockey action on Wednesday, June 7th. The women's division took center stage with a clash between Blackout and Blue Cheese at 6:30 pm, followed by the eagerly anticipated men's division opener featuring Minuteman FHC and Men In Black (MIB) at 7:30 pm.

In the women's division matchup, Blackout emerged victorious with a resounding 4-1 win over Blue Cheese. The game kicked off with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. However, it was Blackout who struck first, with Franny Augustine finding the back of the net to give her team the early lead.

Last night, Tufts University's Ounjian field was buzzing with excitement as two thrilling field hockey matches took place in the North East Premier League, renowned as the strongest league in the country. The focus was on the women's division, where the first game kicked off at 6:30 pm between the Boston Brigade and the Silver Linings.

Mari Bell, the legendary creator and leader of the league, who still holds the scoring record at Northeastern University and was recently named to the USA Field Hockey Masters Squad, led the Boston Brigade. On the other side, the Silver Linings were the reigning champions from last year. In a fiercely competitive match, the Silver Linings emerged victorious, edging out the Boston Brigade with a final score of 3 to 2.

Lindsey Nerbonne contributed two goals for the Silver Linings, showcasing her exceptional skills. Jacqueline Hozza also found the back of the net once, further solidifying their lead. The Boston Brigade fought valiantly, with Roxy Paans and Mari Bell adding a goal each to their team's tally.

Following this intense clash, the second game began at 7:30 pm, featuring the Green Monstas and Flamingos.
